Narcissus (Daffodil)

Associated with the myth of Narcissus who fell in love with his own reflection. Described as 'portents of death' and linked to the goddess Persephone, Queen of the Underworld. Poisonous if ingested but beauty lies in danger. Allow this Celtic themed scent to transport you to the springtime of the underworld.

Helleborus Orientalis (Lenten Rose)

Intoxicatingly delicate yet an underlyingly potent scent. From the Ancient Greek word 'to injure', these plants were used in the First Sacred War to poison the water supply of Kirrha in 595BC and allow the invasion of the city. Hellebores are toxic and despite the common name, not related to the rose family. The plants are resilient and associated with the cold heart of winter.

Prunus Laurocerasus (Cherry Laurel)

Native to regions bordering the Black Sea, with leaves that have the scent of almonds when crushed. But don't let that sweet scent mislead you, as they are also deadly and notoriously used by the Roman emperor Nero to poison his enemies. Laurel leaves were also worn as crowns to signify power and godliness. A regal scent to command any room.

Papaver Somniferum (Opium Poppy)

A powerful neolithic plant used medicinally over centuries to take away pain. The word 'somniferum' means 'sleep bringing' but don't be fooled, this scent is pure pleasure. Designed to awaken the senses and carefully cultivated to leave you always wanting more!
